Holy Doors and the Jubilee Year of Mercy

During this “Jubilee Year of Mercy” the Holy Doors around the world were opened, this is a once in 25 year occasion that helps to instill and restore faith among parishes all over the world. Now, this “Year of Mercy” is different in that Pope Francis declared that there should be Holy Doors in all diocese of the world. However it is still an occasion to visit one of the doors opened by the Holy See, there are 8 total in the world and they are: Saint Peter’s Basilica (Vatican City), Archbasilica of St. John Lateran (Rome), Basilica of Saint Mary the Great (Rome), Basilica of Saint Paul Outside the Walls (Rome), Santiago de Compostela Cathedral ( Galicia, Spain), Pontifical University of Santo Tomas Chapel (Manila, Philippines), Sanctuare of the Curé of Ars (Ars-sure-Formans, France) and Notre-Dame Basilica-Cathedral (Quebec, Canada). All of these sites are important sites to visit during this Jubilee Year of Mercy.

With Rome having 4 of these Holy Doors in close proximity, and the Vatican being there as well. Italy is an important site for a Jubilee Year of Mercy pilgrim. Join us for one of our pilgrimages going to Rome this year before the end of December as that is when the doors will be closed for another 25 years.

“I am the gate. Whoever enters through me will be saved” John 10:9
